This book is hugely informative. Clearly carefully and deeply researched.It is not a warm or emotional book. If you want to feel something about Freddie it is not the place to look.If you want to know ... It's pretty good.
I bought this book because we had to do a psychobiography of a famous person in one of my classes. Queen is one of my all time fave bands, and so i chose this book. I think this book takes in who Freddie was, the good and the bad. It was amzing to read, and i found out things i never knew about Freddie and about Queen!! great read.
I was expecting more. What one gets is more of a detailed description of every performance and every recording ever made by Freddy Mercury and Queen and their predecessor bands. While such information is interesting, I was hoping for more in depth analysis and personal interviews with Freddy that would have helped me to understand him more from a personal point of view. It did help me realize his great talent and extremely hard working and perfection directed temperament, however. I doesn't sound as though there was any personal connection between Freddy and the author. While this is certainly not always a prerequisite for a first class biography, in this case, I think it would have helped in adding more insight into some of his actions.
Not happy with sensationalism! This could have been told in a much better way. The man is dead for god's sake!
Meh - I've read better biography's on Freddie. I didn't even finish this one. Slow, boring read.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading about Freddie's life. I vaguely remember the controversy regarding his life and death. Learning about what was really happening in those years answered so many questions. Freddie was truly an amazing singer and performer and after reading this book, it makes him even more amazing in my eyes.
If you are really interested in early English rock history this is an interesting read. So many people do not remember or appreciate what a performer and singing force Freddy was. This is a great chronicle of his life. It is written in an easy to read style. He was a heck of a force on stage. This book is best read along with viewing many of the Queen and Freddy Mercury videos.
Have become obsessed with Queen and Freddie after seeing the movie. Have read several biographies but this is the best so far. Haven’t finished it but can’t put it down.
