About the Author
DR. BRIAN & CANDICE SIMMONS with their three children spent nearly eight years in the tropical rain forest of the Darien Province of Panama where Brian served as a church planter, translator, and consultant. Brian was involved in the Paya-Kuna New Testament translation project and studied linguistics and Bible translation principles with New Tribes Mission. He is now the lead translator for The Passion Translation. Both Brian and Candice travel full time speaking, teaching, and helping churches and leaders grow in Christ. I don't think I've said this about any other book in my lifetime, but I believe if you were to only read ONE book this year this should be the ONE. I've read thousands (and have most of them on my shelf) of Christian books of all kinds. THIS book has literally changed my life, and will continue to do so I am convinced. Words cannot convey my meaning of this, but suffice to say it has taught me how much The Father loves me, like no other time in my life. If you are seeking the secrets of God, the heart of the Father, and how HIS FIERY LOVE will change your cold heart (yes, yours and mine), PLEASE read this book.
I love this book! I am using it as a devotional, reading sections of it every morning as I journal what God shows me. It captures the love Jesus has for His bride (us!). He loves us when we are struggling and He pursues us even when we feel there is no way He can love us or want us. I recommend this to anyone but especially to those who feel lost in the struggles of life.
I'm still reading this. It's not the kind of book that you quickly read through in a short time. It's the kind of book that you want to take slowly and meditate on and receive in your spirit how Jesus sees us and how he pursues us. I love the way Brian Simmons words the Passion Translation, and this too similarly gives such a broader understanding and revelation of Song of Solomon and the way the King sees and feels about us. I started reading it at I highly recommend this book. It will deeply minister to you in your spirit and draw you to hunger for deeper intimacy with Jesus.
If you want to know the overwhelming, pursuing love Jesus has for you, this is the book to read. The author goes back to the Hebrew language with its phrases & idioms that we in the modern western culture don't readily understand and gives a "virtual" translation of what Solomon was saying in a way we can understand. Expect to be overwhelmed by His Presence while reading this.
The Sacred Journey should be the FIRST book a new believer ever reads besides the Bible! It sets the tone and establishes the metaphors, images, and principles of the whole rest of God's Word! Song of Solomon is THE HEART OF GOD for us, and The Sacred Journey brings that to life in such purity, joy, and righteousness like no other commentary ever has. Thank you for writing this book!
Understanding that the Shulamite represents the Church - the bride of Jesus - released amazing revelations of the love of God that overwhelmed me. Perfect love casts out fear, and this devotional matured my love for Jesus and broke multiple levels of fear strongholds in me. Thank you Brian and Candice!!!!!!
This is the most real alive teachings of the bride of Christ, we are all the Lily among thorns, you are a Lily and all the others are as thorns compared to you, we each have a very special place in Christ, alone just I and Christ, and just you and Christ, the finished work of Christ is by faith in His complete love, He has made His Church glorious without spot or wrinkle, so it is. You are all beautiful My love, there is no spot in you. Christ made you spotless, all that is needed is knowledge of the FINISHED WORK OF CHRIST. This book speaks of the pure unselfish love of Christ to each and every Lily, as we sit in His shade of Love and taste His sweet fruit of Love we grow into a fully developed bride by knowing His Love for each of us. This book teaches the most unselfish love I have ever been taught no one is above or room for PRIDE, which made the bride teachers fail in knowledge of Christ's love, they didn't know Christ, the truth is His Love is to each person in Christ, not a few better people, but if you are in Christ your already His Love, already beautiful and spotless, your only need is to know what Christ has already done in you, and for you everything needed, this book teaches of the most intense Love, of Christ to all in Christ you are His glorious bride now! We grow up into the fullness of Christ when we understand the works already completed in Christ. The only requirement is excepting Christ in salvation, this makes you His one and only love forever. Christ has finished His works and we simply believe in Him and grow in His perfect love for us!
Must read. I encourage you to take this book at the pace you are lead. I even set it down for a month twice and when I felt to pick it up again it was exact to where the Lord was speaking to me.
